Meet DANIEL HOOGE

A Life of Service, a Career of Integrity

Daniel Hooge has been a continuous resident of Southern Nevada for nearly 19 years, building a life and a career defined by hard work, community involvement, and an unwavering commitment to the rule of law. Running for the Eighth Judicial District Court, Department 26, Daniel brings a rare "triangulation" of experience to the bench: the practical mindset of a former business owner, the rigorous perspective of a veteran prosecutor, and the high-level ethical expertise of the State Bar’s Chief Bar Counsel.

From the Business World to the Courtroom Daniel’s path to the judiciary was not traditional. Before entering the legal profession, he owned and operated a real estate brokerage and mortgage lending firm. This experience provided him with a first-hand understanding of the challenges facing Nevada’s business community from contract disputes to the importance of efficient, predictable legal resolutions. This "real-world" background ensures that, as a judge, Daniel will appreciate the practical impact that court delays and legal costs have on everyday citizens and business owners.

A Proven Prosecutor and Legal Leader

Daniel’s legal career is marked by a dedication to public safety and professional standards. During his tenure as the elected District Attorney for Lincoln County, he handled a wide array of criminal matters, from misdemeanor offenses to complex felonies. He understands the heavy responsibility a judge carries when balancing the "cold requirements of justice" with the wisdom required for mercy and community protection.

Currently, as the Chief Bar Counsel for the State Bar of Nevada, Daniel is at the forefront of attorney regulation. In this role, he oversees the ethical standards of the entire legal profession in the state. His daily work involves the technical application of the Rules of Professional Conduct, ensuring that the integrity of our legal system is preserved. This deep expertise in ethics is exactly what Department 26 needs to ensure impartial and transparent justice.

Community Roots

Beyond the courtroom, Daniel is a husband, father, and active member of the North Las Vegas community. He has spent years volunteering as a youth soccer coach, helping to mentor the next generation and manage the logistical needs of local sports leagues. Whether he is on the soccer field or in a legal hearing, Daniel is known for his calm demeanor, his ability to listen, and his commitment to fairness.

Why Department 26?

Daniel believes that a District Court Judge must be more than just a legal scholar. They must serve the public with diligence and efficiency. They must respect the time and rights of everyone who enters their courtroom. With his diverse background and nearly two decades of local residency, Daniel Hooge is prepared to serve Clark County with the technical precision, ethical clarity, and common-sense leadership our judiciary requires.
